Missing teeth can have a devastating impact on a person’s life. Not only does it make it difficult to chew food properly; it can also affect the way a person speaks and even their appearance. Dr. Tiffee understands how important a full set of healthy, functioning teeth can be to the overall quality of a person’s life. For that reason, he is pleased to offer his Uvalde, TX, area patients both full and partial sets of dentures. Thanks to modern dentures and dental prosthetics, there’s no reason to let missing teeth impact the quality of your life!

Types of Dentures

Dentures come in both full sets (a complete set of teeth for both the upper and lower plates) and partial sets. Partial dentures are often a good choice for people who have a few missing teeth in a row. If Dr. Tiffee fits you with a partial set of dentures, you’ll need to care for it just as you would a full set – the dentures should be cleaned using a good quality denture cleaner, and the partial should be kept soaking in water when you’re not wearing it.

When it comes to full sets of dentures, there are two types available to our patients: conventional and immediate. Conventional dentures are provided to patients who have previously lost their teeth (or had them extracted for whatever reason), and whose gum tissue is completely healed. Immediate dentures, on the other hand, are available for patients immediately after Dr. Tiffee extracts their teeth. The advantage of immediate dentures is obvious: the patient doesn’t need to live without teeth between the time they are removed and the time when the gums heal.  The one disadvantage to this type of denture is that they will need to be relined on occasion after the initial fitting since the gum tissue will change shape as it heals.
